Federal Express is a very admirable company to work for, which I did
for 15 years. The culture of the company is Business and Productivity
as every company must do to keep up with the economy. FedEx is a
constant training program of technology and reports, the minute you
think there can't be anything new to learn there are new reports to
track service indices, constant reports to monitor drivers. faster
technology to the customer an answer faster. The hours are long and not
the normal standard shifts, If you are in Ground Operations, you
monitor weather all over the world, what happens in New york and New
Jersey effects Florida. The ultimate destination is the customers
front door,. but from pick up to delivery there are constant monitoring
of flights and weather and HUB internet sites, Nextel message start at
3:30 in the morning until the flights land with all the local freight
and truck arrivals from local markets all time coordinated to meet that
10:30 deadline, its all about minutes and time spans. The dress code
is total uniform compliance, down to what kind of socks, FedEX is the
Ultimate Corporate Business Image, You become well versed with Policy
and Procedures. There is a way to pull, load, deliver, pick up and Dress
that must be followed. The diversity in the company is male
predominant, although there are many powerful women throughout. It is
only a matter of what you want to achieve for yourself. There are
V.P.'s that have started out loading the inside a belly of a plane or
like me washing trucks at night and making a shuttle run to the airport
to take last minite freight and became a Oerations Manager. No degree
is needed to move up, years of service count as a degree, knowledge and
dedication of what goals you may have can be attained from within. All
in all Federal Express has alot to offer if you can keep up with the
long hours, sometimes other parts of your life may suffer but if you
have worked for FedEx you would bleed purple for them until you
couldn't anymore.
