This is the skinny. Enterprise does provide "the dream" to about 3% of
its employees. When one is hired at Enterprise, you will be fed "the
dream" on a regular basis. Six figures in less than five years. What
they fail to mention is that you will be doing one of the worst jobs in
the history of mankind. Short of shoveling horse dung, this is about
as bad as it gets. In Southern California, the competition is
extremely stiff both in the marketplace and within the company for
promotion. People will do almost anything to get a leg up. I worked,
on average, 55-60 hours per week. I was constantly under preasure to
outpreform last years numbers. Often, last years numbers were before
five other rental agencies moved into the area and began competing for
business. The competition was so stiff, that my area manager once told
me to go "dumpster diving" to get information from a competitor. I'm
not kidding, the guy actually expected me to go into a trash dumpster
to look for information about how many cars my competitor had, what
their average rate was, and who they were getting business from. If
you don't think this could possibly be true, the guys name is Adam
Belsky and I have multiple witnesses that back my story up. Do not
take this job unless you are ultra-competitive, and you don't mind
occasionally breaking the law. The "dumpster diving" incident more or
less shattered "the dream' for me. I've moved on, and I am much
happier. You will receive excellent business experience from
Enterprise, but I would cation you that the price might be higher than
most are willing or able to pay.
