I think the outlook for Enterprise is superb. WE have not taken any
serious hits with the negative economy, in fact we have continued
steady growth over the past two years, and are the only company in our
industry that has. We do have one competitor in particular who is
causing us to have to really focus on our goals, but, from what I can
see, this will not be a long term concern because of the agreements we
have with many national providers, and the solid customer base that we
have.
In my opinion, Enterprise is solidly grounded, and will continue to be
so. The biggest thing that leads me to believe this is the fact that
Enterprise doesn't tend to jump in to what is hot now, we always
research new locations and the demographics of the customers in that
location to make sure they are making a sound business decision.
Because of the company's focus on making sound decisions, and
committment to quality, not just a quick buck, I have a lot of
confidence in a long term position/career for my future.
At the same time, I can always see growing pains that my company has,
and weaknesses that come up at different times, but I don't beleive
that any company is perfect, and from my experience, these weaknesses
more often than not turn in to building blocks that strengthen the
company in the long run.
I think that biggest weakness that I recognize is that our employees
have varying management styles that can clash. Because Enterprise
promotes freedom and autonomy of their employees to make local business
decisions, there are times when one person or a group of people may
have a different vision than those above them, or a person with more
authority may lose sight of the company's mission. Unfortunately I did
see this happen, and saw a pretty negative outcome as a result of that,
which took probably 18 months to completely resolve. Long term though,
it did provide a great learning opportunity, although the lesson itself
did cause some pain. Overall, to me this is a perfect example of the
one thing that I value most - freedom to make my own decisions about my
business and my customers - also being the one thing that could ruin me
if I personally don't stay focused, and if I don't continually, as a
leader, try to promote those same values and focus to my teammates.
