As a member of a hiring team, I can tell you the questions are detailed
and are in conjuntion with the Situation,Task, Action, Results (STAR)
Process. The concept is to gain knowledge of experiences not always
listed on the resume. It is a good process but again only as good as
those who administer it.
Most often the team has previously met and decided based on the culture
of management who will be hired. If you are Cacausian (to include White
Eurpoeans) you will be judged against your other caucasian counterparts.
If you are Asian OR Indian the less English you speak and the less you
know about American culture the better your chances are. In fact often
you do not need to talk because you are hired for workabees. If you are
African American or Latin American you should have strong personal
referrals, be a recruit from a minority college and suck up a whole lot
during the interview. Unless Lilly need your quota in the department you
are interviewing for you are wasting your time. If you are a female,
smile a lot at your male interviewers and show a little leg.
This may sound extreme, but it is the truth. These are the best tips for
employment. Again, I have been on targeted selection teams, as Lilly
refers to it, and that is a good name, because it is exactly
that "Targeted Selection".
