It has been the best overall work place of all my jobs. The training
was top in the industry which is important in the pharmaceutical field.
The corporate culture is one where personal and professional growth are
very highly encouraged. Having a strong family life (if this is
important to the employee) is also catered to, which is why women within
the pharmaceutical field constantly rate Eli Lilly as one of the top
companies to work for. Additionally, while sales is the number one goal
(as you would expect with a pharmaceutical company), Eli Lilly places a
strong value on integrity and is known within the field for this
commitment. I have found the employees a very diverse group, with all
sorts of ethnic and racial backgrounds as well as a good gender mix.
The hours within the sales division are variable. When one starts in
this field the hours can be long but will decrease as you get used to
your territory and the medical professionals in your territory get used
to you. Additionally, much (not all) of your schedule is written by
yourself so you have added flexibility in terms of hours you work.
Dress code is traditionally business suits although that is dependent on
your territory's location and habits. There are plenty of territories
that work in more casual attire. Meeting are usually in business
casual. I have found that opportunities for advancement have been
excellent. I was approved for a promotion 18 months after my hire
date. Plus, if you are not geographically tied down, these
opportunities come quickly and often. This is a company that I would
love to come back to once I am back in the country (or in any country
that speaks English as a first language).
