I was interviewed once and hired on the spot. During the interview, I
was told that the company helped with college tuition and rewarded
employees for completing advanced degrees. I was also told that I had to
start as a contract employee hired through a temp agency but that would
only be for 3 months.
I was subsequently, kept a contractor for over 2 years during which time
I was never able to take advantage of any of the benefits that were
presented to me in my interview. By the time I was converted to regular
employee status all of the benefits that had been presented to me in the
interview, the things that had made the company unique such as flexible
hoiurs, college tuition reimbursement, rewards for advanced degrees,
sabbaticals, reimbursement for healthclub membership,401K comntribution
matching, etc., had been eliminated. The company's greatest asset is the
people working there but a very significant portion of the employees are
only there because the local economy is so bad.
