Overall, it would appear the company does well. Generally speaking,
moral runs high...everyone drinks the "Edward Jones Koolaid", and if you
are an IR, it is a great job. as long as you understand it is much like
a franchise in that you must run your business like a business if you
want to make any money. The BOA position is a great job as long as you
dont mind working really hard for less than you could make elsewhere.
The reward is supposed to be that you have one superviser who
(hopefully) appreciates all you do, and that together you can work
toward profitability, at which point the IR starts making more money and
(hopefully) shares it with you. If your IR is a good person, fair and
aggressive enough to do the work it takes to get to bonus it can be a
fulfilling job.
The problem is, it is all up to the IR. They say different. They sell
you the "Ombudsman", an anonymous help line specifically for the BOA,
but in reality, they are only there to listen to you rant. They can't
help you when your IR who hired you leaves the company and they bring in
a new one whose personality is not a good fit for yours. If you get a
new IR, who happens to be a wee little man with a Napoleon Complex, who
is offended because you are too good at your job, and clients like you
too much, and he feels there may be a power struggle so he wants you
gone...well then, you will be gone. St louis,(home office) has NO
Loyalty to you. Even if in 3 years and 10 months you have never had one
single reprimand, not one single warning and not one single complaint.
What he says is gospel.
They try to tell you different, but I'm not the only one they've done it
to.
