I was originally offered what I was currently making at my last job
which other than having less travel time to get to work, was not a great
incentive. At the time, I was making in the 50s. I talked it over with
my family, and decided that I would have to decline. I was then asked
what it would take to make me want to come to work for them. I informed
them that I would like to be making 60s. I was then offered this along
with a signing bonus. At the time, though, I didn't ask for 2 weeks of
vacation, but got the standard 1 week that all new hires get the 1st
year. Looking back, I would have negotiated for that additional week.
I was not offered stock options at the time, but the company itself is
in the process of spliting. The company did offer the standard
offerings of health, dental, vision, life insurance, etc. What they
offerred that I thought was better than most what that tuition
reimbursement was $5000 a year for ANY schooling not just job related
along as the school is accredited. Also, the offered PET HEALTH
Insurance. They also do matching 401k and stock purchase program.
Benefit wise, it was more choices than I had ever received, and other
than dental, all the benefits are excellent. Dental doesn't have
enought people locally who participate, so it would be better if they
found another plan.
