Good corporate culture, in that policies tend to be thought out, even
though sometimes not well carried out by managers.
Hours and working conditions generally reflect more on the managers and
the individual account structure. Overall I've had pretty sensible
leaders, but I am aware that that is not always the case. Of course,
the ones sensible about employee conditions are likeliest to be
sensible about business decisions as well, so if I want a continuing
role in one spot, the employment conditions can be a clue to whether
the management can keep the project alive as well.
Dress code accommodates any reasonable office wear. I'm not aware of
anyone who considers it an issue.
Opportunities for advancement increase and decrease with the success of
the business. As computer outsourcing grows, openings occur. As
business tails off, as it has done the past couple years, openings are
more scarce.
EDS has good training access, with a diverse range of web-based course
in relevant dicsiplines available to anyone connected to the EDS
network. Self-improvement requires only one's own time.
The opportunities at EDS are very much what you make them, good or bad.
