| Human Resources Leadership Program |
I had one interview on campus through my grad school's career
services. They sent an actual participant from the management trainee
program I was interviewing for. Typically a more senior person comes
to campus to interview in addition to former alumni who are now
employees. The lack of management level representation was
disappointing. The interview was a basic behavioral based interview.
The next step was a corporate visit. They had me stay at the Hotel du
Pont, which was the highlight of the interviewing experience because it
is a very nice hotel. They assigned a "buddy" from the mgt trainnee
program to take me to breakfast and lunch and answer more candid
questions. In between I interviewed with a series of HR leaders. The
panal was gender/culturally diverse, however no one was under the age
of 45. Everyone was very nice, as most DuPonters are. I was not
necessarily asked any questions beyond "why did you choose HR," "why
did you choose your school," etc. It was mostly just small talk, very
informal (and NOT good HR practice). I received a written offer and
the pay was about average, however there was no signing bonus. I was
able to negotiate a signing bonus, however I was very much made aware
that this was an EXCEPTION and was not to be spoke of. They also offer
a new employee loan of up to $2500 in which you have up to a year to be
paid back and is automatically deducted from your paycheck for that
year if you do not choose to pay it back sooner. The written offer did
not give specifics about my role and the actual position and title I
ended up getting was not aligned with what was verbally promised. I
highly recommend they show you a written job description with title and
responsibilities or they may stick you in a glorified internship as
opposed to an actual open position.
