Fairly diverse. Functional dress code (ties for sales, collared shirts
for engineering, casual shirts for drafting. Jeans etc, for lab and
machine shop.)
Only 2-3 levels of management, includes the Owners. Though I am a
regular engineer, one of the Owners attends most of my design reviews.
Light on the benefits, better on the pay. Good overtime for drafting,
lab, manufacturing personnel.
Culture: lot of younger new hires right now. Combined with pay and
little bureacracy, makes this a fun place to start a career. However,
there is a surprising amount of red tape for having so few bureaucrats.
Computing systems (software) are a bit antiquated and perform poorly.
Do have some top-line software and hardware for FEA(ABAQUS).
Policy and product decisions are very straightforward--whatever the boss
wants. It's his money after all. However, the owners are very open to
new ideas and technology.
Excellent opportunities for advancement in engineering. Less in
manufacturing department. Not very many engineers in 35-55 year age
range.
More emphasis on results than pretty-looking presentations. Informal
and straightforward.
Excellent lab for product development. This was my deciding factor in
signing on.
