Deutsche Post is a company with two corporate cultures, one formed by
its still huge number of public employees and one steming from the new
management which is nearly exclusively recruited from McKinsey.
Political questions still play a big role, the need to balance economic
meaningful measures with political wishes still prevails.
The CEO is the strongest and by far most influential manager within the
company. The CFO has a non economic background and is therefore insecure
in many areas of his competence. This makes working with him difficult.
The company is trying to promote women into higher positions. So far few
non Germans have made it to influential positions.
Work days tend to be above average long.
Opportunities for advancement fairly good, especially for McKinsey
employees. Payment depends on bargaining skills, can be very good
