Early in 2004, the salary scales changed and my salary is based on a
given point
on that scale so my offer became $43,074. There were no signing bonuses
or
stock
options because this is the government. However, as mentioned earlier,
there
are
2 significant promotions (almost guaranteed) during your first to years
of
employment.
In addition to the "flex-time" mentioned earlier, you also have the
opportunity
to work "credit hours," where you can work up to 2 hours over each day
and save
those hours as future leave hours. However, you can only have 24
credits saved
at the end of any given pay period. There is sometimes overtime
available and
it
is sometimes optional. We also earn 4 hours of annual leave and 4 hours
of sick
leave each pay period and can accumulate up to 240 hours of annual with
no cap
on
sick. At the end of your 3 year training program you begin to earn 6
hours of
annual each pay period, and after 15 years of employment you begin to
earn 8
hours per pay period.
You also get tuition reimbursement for college courses. If I want to
take the
CPA, I will get reimbursed for that as well as a Becker Review course.
We also
get paid training for CPEs and are provided additional training courses
(that
sometimes offer college credit) in the building.
