Our unit consists mostly of Asians (Filipinos in particular). But now,
we are getting more. My boss is white and rumor has been going around
that she commented that she does not want to hire any more Filipinos.
What her reason is, i don't know.
We wear DAVITA uniforms although some employees have come in with tank
tops, or half shirts, or sports bra (underneath our disposable gowns) on
the weekends especially.
We have a 12-hour day. The openers come in at 4:30 am to apen all of
our 35 machines. The rest of the techs come in at 4:45 am to set-up
their machines. The first patient should be on at 5:15 am (which does
not happen most of the time because we have a time crunch). There is
not enough time to come in and open machines, set-up, and prepare packs.
unless we employ SPEEDY GONZALEZ, it is impossible. We only cross our
fingers every morning that no machine would fail its test, or there will
be water problem so we start as timely as possible.
Opportunities for advancement ? Maybe the academy...preceptor training.
