As far as investment banking goes, I cannot imagine a more laid-back,
enjoyable work environment than CSFB-Chicago. It definitely was a
fraternity-like feel, dress code was business casual. Hours were
average: 9:00 a.m. or so to 10:00 p.m. or so on weekdays, worked til
about 6 or 7 on weekends, and generally worked an average of one
weekend day a week. Of course, there were all-nighters and rigorous
weekends, but those were not the norm. Environment was outstanding:
executives were friendly, helpful, and accessible; perks were great;
and layoffs were even handled fairly and generously. I think DLJ-ers
who got laid off felt like they were treated unfairly.
