The Information Technology organization is a crutch to current and
future competitiveness of the company, and it will ultimately cause its
demise. The self-serving, empire-building culture creates a bloated,
non-agile organization that is extremely resistant to change. This
culture is fostered by the highest levels in the organization that have
created bonus and incentive plans based upon unimportant criteria such
as headcount. Countrywide's anti-outsourcing mentality creates many non-
essential business units that grow in size until there are many internal
fiefdoms and competing factions that hinder productivity. This is an
extremely political organization that places a low value on employees
and human capital. I strongly advise thinking twice about investing in
this company or joining its ranks if you have other options.
