My interview experiences at CEB began back in 2000, where I had a
preliminary behavioral telephone interview, after which I was flown to
DC for a half hour in person interview with a member of the "talent
management" group. My interview process was less rigorous than others,
as I hear it, as the interviews were largely unstructured and were more
about talking about my past experiences - certainly no case interviews
for the RA position.
Later I interviewed for a horizontal move and was introduced to the fact
that these interviews as well are not very structured. Or rather, they
are as structured as the individual interviewing wishes it to be. As
the company's managers are young and inexperienced, so too are the
interviewers in general, so that I believe there is a high degree of
variability in the intensity of interviews for the same positions and
questions asked. The interview process at the CEB, coming out of college
in 2000, was significantly less formal than any of the other 30+ firms I
interviewed with (e.g., when CEB flew me to DC for my second and final
round interview, there were supposed to be two half hour interviews, but
the second interviewer forgot she had to interview me and went to lunch
instead, so I only had one informal 30 minute interview and flew back
home).
