Job Title Interview Survey
Research Associate Most people ultimately hired by CEB come in through a referral. I'd suggest checking your undergraduate or graduate alumni page for a list of people who work at the company. My resume went in through a referral; I later found out that this "colleague" was especially helpful due to the CEB's $1,000 referral bonus. If you're a good candidate and your contact knows it, the incentive is there to get you into the company. The process is very quick. From the resume submittal to the offer, I think it took three weeks. You should submit the resume, a writing sample from undergrad or grad (I honestly don't know if they use this much, I sent in something very academic, not related to business at all), and cover letter. My first two interviews were over the telephone and were strictly behavioral-based. The first was a resume "walk- through" and the second hit hard on time management, research, writing, organizational, and verbal skills. I was flown up for the third and final interview. I met with four people total, two meetings of two-on-one (me), each lasting about an hour. My interviewers were senior researchers, senior research managers and a director. Each person represents a different research area. They make their decisions independently and extend offers. This means that you could have one to three/four offers; in the case of more than one offer, you may choose into which research area you'll be placed. The questions in the final interview were very detailed, meaning, if you give an example, be prepared for serious follow-up questions. Don't expect smiles or reassuring nods - no real effort is made to small talk or make friends. Also, they ask you cases which, in my opinion, were easier than the resume-based questions. You may take some time to write down your response before launching into the answer. I was extended an offer the next day and received it in writing a couple of days after that.
