CEB was a great professional development experience. Even though I was
clearly overqualified for my job, the flexibility and opportunity for
advancement allowed me to move beyond my job description, and gain
valuable knowledge and skills. The company is really best suited for
young professionals. For many it was their first job out of college and
the friendships formed (and frequently sponsored happy hours) attest to
the youthful nature of the company. The downsides include feeling
overworked and underpaid, but in the current economy, I would probably
feel slightly less so. They are the ultimate snobs about schools and
credentials, but if you are smart and completely dedicated to gaining
experience and developing in your field, the company will definitely
offer benefits. The hours many people put in were considerable, but
considering the alternative careers for many (I-banking, consulting,
etc.) CEB wasn't too far out of line with it's competitors for talent.
Basically, interesting place, good people, decent pay, very young and
energetic culture, great opportunity to be challenged and grow
professionally.
