Worked for what was then called the professional services group.
Providing computer services to business clients. Company made a lot of
money on Y2K efforts but was not able to translate that into general
business consulting services. My prior company was acquired by this
company and all benefit structures and compensations were changed.
Several other companies were acquired and as a result there were too
many senior personnel vying for a limited number of open positions.
Took 8 months to even get onto the list for new management positions
and the week before my final review, company laid off 2500 (including
me) one month and another 1500 the next.
