When I went to work for them I immediately tood a $7,000 pay cut. As a
computer analyst I was put in a non-technical role. The facilities were
good with a subsidized cafteria and gym. The dress code was flexible,
casual, and normally 8 hours was all that was required per day.
Advancement was almost totally impossible. Many people left because of
no opportunities. The company never knew where they were going. I went
thru the quality assurance academy twice, without ever getting a QA
job. The inhouse training classes were a flop. The teachers new their
material but couldn't teach. My wife who was a teacher, wouldn't be
allowed to teach (even simple subjects) because she didnt have a
technical background. Eventually inhouse classes were cancelled
altogether. Many people were fired after working many years. In the
end, 1,600 people were fired because of the economic layoffs.
