Corporate culture - hyper-political; intelligence is frowned upon; new
ideas are bad, bad, bad. Please don't voice your opinion to upper
management, especially if it doesn't match the opinions of the important
two or three folks. The other words I can think of here to describe the
culture - powerhungry! Their desperate clutch to their fifedoms is
absolutely comical. More culture info - CHEAP! Don't even ask to have
lunch brought in when you have been working days and days and days to
get a project done. Anything over $50 requires a director level
signature!
Diversity - limited; they preach it, but they don't practice it. There
are zero african-americans in upper mgmt.
Hours - flex; 8 hr workday; many employees telecommute
Dress code - pretty casual (jeans only on Fridays; nobody cares about
the dress code; they are too busy focusing on the important things like
humiliating their employees and reducing salaries
Opportunities for advancement - limited unless you are sleeping with
someone important (but watch out - they might not be important
tomorrow!) Here's something else - new mgmt positions open all of the
time. For a lot of headache and a lot of responsibility (notice I did
not say control), you will get a 5% increase! What a bargain! There is
a reason all of those mgmt positions keep opening up. Nobody wants 'em!
Ethics - this company does not practise what they preach in terms of
ethics. The ethics video - a laugh riot!
Management - although the vast majority of the mgmt that existed in the
late nineties has headed for greener pastures, there are still a few has-
beens holding out; maybe they are waiting on retirement. No idea.
This company has been on a downhill slide for years now. If you are
even remotely considering working for this company, I beg you to re-
consider.
I was told at one point by exec mgmt (when I first considered leaving)
that a good employee who threatens to quit will be allowed to leave.
They will not attempt to stop a good employee from leaving. They have
no idea that the people are what makes a company.
