Job Title Workplace Survey
Program Manager I thought I had done my homework, asked all the right questions, and had a pretty good idea of what the program management position would entail. Instead I ended up working for the most unprofessional, uneducated and unmotivating company I have ever had the displeasure to be employed by. The training for the position was non-existent, expectations were impossible to meet, my manager was a glorified copy editor with no prior managerial experience that single handedly ruined an entire department (which eventually led to her being removed from the position). This particular manager had no clue on how to develop employees let alone have the common courtesy to respect the boundaries of employer/employee relationship. The position was a daily barrage of meetings to meet about what we were going to meet on. The pay is weekly (which is THE BEST) benefit Cintas has to offer. Expect long days, stressful atmosphere, with very little satisfaction or appreciation for your hard work. The company benefits are THE WORST to be a Fortune 500. For a new hire expect to receive 5 sick days after 3 months and 5 vacation days after 6 months of service. You automatically get 2 weeks paid vacation on you anniversary date of hire. Cintas has managed to give the least amount of holidays they could squeeze out. Think all the major holidays and nothing more. New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving & day after, and Christmas Day... that's it! No floating or personal days... oh yeah, they used to let you take you birthday as a holiday but they took that privilege away quick fast and in a hurry. The benefits read on 1 sheet of paper... medical, dental, vision, STD, 401(k) (LTD is paid for by the employee). That's about it, nothing extra--no tuition reimbursement, no flexible spending account, NOTHING is invested into their employees to make them want to stay. Be prepared to sit in tiny cubicles with hand me down computers that work if you were lucky enough to get a new one. My computer crashed 7 times before they even explored the option to get another one. They continued to refurbish my old one. The dress code policy is something from the 1950's. Males must wear a shirt, tie, dress slacks (no khakis at any given time) and women MUST ALWAYS WEAR HOSE... yes I said hose... in the winter and in the 101 degree days there is nothing better than to have melting nylon on with your closed toe shoes. Closed toe shoes ONLY. Don't expect too much from the career advancement side. Career development doesn't exist. If you are a minority forget about it all together... It is a "good old boys" haven. Please don't come to the job thinking you are going to get the tools to succeed because you will need to be creative and either buy them yourself, or wait like a buzzard at someone who has resigned and pillage to get pens, paper, scissors etc. Oh and if there is a possibility you have to travel be ready for 2-3 star accommodations at best. We are talking Hampton Inns, Best Westerns etc. They will also not let you expense lunch while you are out on business either. You get 7-10$ for breakfast and 25$ for dinner. Expect to come into the office before leaving for your trip and return to the office upon landing. Cintas prides themselves on the Spartan way of life... but they take it ENTIRELY too far resulting in high turnover and a lot of unhappy employees. Oh and as far as a holiday party goes... be prepared to pay for one... Cintas does not foot that bill either.
