Cimarex is the product of a merger, an attempt to blend two different
corporate cultures -- one a traditional, conservative, genteel,
Southern-gentleman style of business, the other a rough-and-ready, take-
no-prisoners, aggressive Western style -- in the hope of softening the
rougher side while energizing the more languid side.
The largest minority segment is African-American. Second is Native
American.
Work hours are mildly flexible, starting as early as 7:30 am and ending
as late as 6:00 pm, depending upon your supervisor. Days are M - F.
Engineers and geologists are expected to work as needed, evenings,
weekends, holidays, etc.
Dress code is usually business casual, unless there are executive
meetings. Then men must wear a suit, white shirt and tie.
Opportunities for career growth are limited to most employees. The
executive management is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, and they
call the shots for hiring and promoting at mid and upper levels.
