Cargill Dow continues to develop the market for polylactide, a
biodegradable plastic made from corn. There is enormous market potential
for this product, but the rate of market penetration has so far been
lower than expected. The main competition comes from plastics produced
from traditional fossil-fuel feedstocks, mainly petroleum. We have a new
CEO who is focused on selling more and meeting aggressive timelines.
Assuming we meet some near-term goals, the business outlook for Cargill
Dow is excellent!
