I acutually started working for Advance PCS and it was ok working for
them. Untill March 2004 when Caremark bought out Advance PCS and all
hell broke loose. I worked in 3 dif. departments. Starting in the
interchange. Here we would call physicians offices and ask to change
patients medications to either a cheaper brand medication or a generic
medication. Most physicians offices did not want to participate in the
program and would hang up on us. However once in a while we would get
an interchange we had heard through the grape vine that members whose
medications we had changed we not very happy and fortunatly we were not
on the other end of the line when they would call. After a lenghty 3
months in that dept. I went to the Fast Start department where we would
assist members setting up their mail order prescriptions. Many members
were very unhappy with this because they were expecting it to be fast
like the name says "Fast" Start. It usually took 10 to 14 days after
we got their prescriptions from their doctors before they would have
their medications. I then went to work in the FEP (Federal Employees
Program) where we set up prior authorizations (or federal government
employees) so their medications could be covered if their diagnosis met
our insurance criteria. So no matter if the doctor wanted the patient
on a certain medication it had to meet our criteria in order for us to
pay for it. This was a huge pain for both the member and the doctors
office. I spent almost 7 months there before i was fired for what they
called a HIPPA (Halth Insurance Privacy and Portability Act) Which
after being reviewed by several supervisors was nothing of the sort.
They do have a very strict dress code. Busisness attire Mon-Thurs.
Jeans are ok on Fri. But don't plan on jeans every Friday because they
will say that they are giving tours for corporate officers and that you
need to dress up.
