I applied for the position after seeing it advertised online. I was
living in Sydney at the time and considering moving interstate.
I received a telephone call from the Director of Sales and Marketing
(also HR person... we are a small company). She told me about what the
company does, and after a brief telephone interview asked me if I would
consider moving to Melbourne earlier that planned. I advised her that I
would consider it.
I was then asked if I would complete a short online personality
assessment, to which I agreed. I received another telephone call where
I was offered the position (without ever having met the employers) we
discussed salary package and if I could move down to Melbourne soon.
By chance the Managing Director was in Sydney the following week, and so
we arranged a formal interview. In the interview we discussed the
position and my work history etc. The MD asked questions based on the
results of the profile assessment, specifically targeting my approach
with difficult customers and employees (low assertiveness).
Then he sat back and told me to "sell" myself to him... A salesperson I
am not and I wasn't prepared for the question but must have done well
since he formally offered me the job. As part of the businesses hiring
process he asked me to take a secondary personality assessment.
I moved and started soon after that.
