The outlook for the company is very positive. It has expanded into the
state of Washington and is now the largest private water purveyor in the
state. There are also districts in New Mexico and Hawaii. The regulatory
climate in California has been a little stormy the past couple years.
Fortunately this seems to be changing. The Califonia Public Utilities
Commission recently granted much needed rate relief to 14 of Cal Water's
districts. This $12 million in rate relief should add significant value
to the company's earning per share. Being a private water utility and a
monopoly there is little competition from competing water companies. The
company has been in business since 1926 and should continue to grow and
expand for many years to come.
