Our office environment is very relaxed and work is conducted
autonomously, giving freedom to develop work practices that work best
for you. We dress casual (colored jeans are allowed, no shorts, etc.),
and our small office works very well as a team and is very successful, I
think because of this flexibility. Employees in other offices within our
company are not given as much freedom from management, so envy the
culture of our work environment. We're a 8-5 office, which is an area I
wish we had more flexibility over. Because there are less than 10
employees in our office, and we're overwhelmingly long term employees,
there isn't much opportunity for advancement without moving out of
state. However, most of the employees here are not really 'burning' to
climb the corporate ladder, anyway, so it's not really an issue with us.
We know our business very well here, and wish we had freedom to make
more decisions on a local basis, as we have to go to regional management
for approval on a lot of things such as ability to attend job fairs or
trade shows.
