Bunnings warehouse offer unique hiring processes. Firstly when you ring
up to apply for an interview, the employees are actually phone screening
you. If you are eligible, you are then asked to come in for a group
interview. In the group interview, you are amongst a group of 10-20
people. It is like a discussion group, examples of salesmanship are
given, and voluntarily you answer. Occasionally there is a round the
group question and answer. Each person is given an item that Bunnings
sell, and you are asked to stand up and sell this product. How you
would sell it to an interested customer.
The employers are at the back of the room, noting your participation.
After this you await a phone call to come into a third and final
interview. This is a private interview, where you are interviewed by
two employers. You then await whether you are succesful or not.
Once employed, you are then given a introductory session on Bunnings.
The past, present and future are shown, via videotape, handouts etc.
You are explained the visions and values and how important they are to
the day to day running of the warehouse. Having this introductory
session is really helpful. It helps the first day at work nerves, you
get to meet other new employees, and are familiar with the management
team, who are just like the employees you work with daily.
