Excellent benefits including both a matching 401k ($.75/$1.00 on first
8%) and a pension plan. Several health plan options. Get your salary
when you hire in, as Boeing uses a Merit Pool system, whereby they set
aside a pool of money for annual increases based on a percentage of
everyones' salary in the pool. So if you have a group of 100 people in
a given pool, and the Merit is 3.5%, either some will get more, and
some will get less, or everyone will get peanutbuttered at the pool
percentage.
Dress code is business casual, very casual on Fridays. Hours are
pretty much what you want. Anywhere from 5:30 to 9:30 AM start and 5x8,
8x9 (3 day weekend every other weekend), 4x10, some telecommuting.
Management is a "stuff rolls downhill" structure. It seems the only
thing managers manage is the dirty laundry of their superior manager.
In addition, boeing believes that you don't have to know anything about
what the people working for you do in order to manage them resulting in
some unfortunate mismatches. If you're not in the union, or identified
as a management fast-track candidate, opportunities for advancement are
pretty slim at bes
