I had two rounds of interviews for my current position (note that I was
already an internal candidate). I first interviewed with the hiring
manager and then was brought back to interview with the department
director. After this, I was offered the job.
The interview questions were mainly behavioral with my current manager
and the director just mainly talked about herself (yes, that was a sign
of what she turned out to be like). We recently hired several
additional employees in our department and I was involved in the hiring
process. There is no centralized process for determining the types of
questions that are asked or the process. That is determined by the
hiring manager. We used questions taken from a site on the internet to
ask behavioral based questions. Many managers hire people they know.
So, if you know the manager that may play in your favor.
