The company recently had a changing of the guard. The small group of
men who started the company were entrepenuerial types who liked to see
something from the inception. It seems that they lacked the skills to
take this telecommunications company from a small business to a
corporation. This is important because the telecom world is eat or be
eaten and Birch needed to position itself to acquire some of the other
smaller companies that do not have the revenue to offer new products
and services that allow them to compete with the larger former bell
companies. I feel that they need to make sure they continue the small
company atmosphere for the employees they had in the beginning or they
will have expensive turn over and low morale. I felt this was becoming
a bit compromised and people were looking to see if this was just the
transition or the new culture. I would encourage anyone considering
any employment anywhere to pay close attention to the current staff.
Are they happy? Do they feel heard and utitlized? Is the atmosphere
positive or negative?
