Did my application in the store, & they were calling me for my 1st
interview before I even got home! So I had the interview, & it seemed to
go quite well. About a week later, I was also called for my 1st
interview at the Auburn Hills store. The said they'd hire me if Flint
didn't. I waited a few weeks for the Flint store to call, & when I
called Auburn Hills to see if they wanted me to come in for another
interview, I was told that the mgr. that had told me that, was no longer
employed there. But they said they would check on that & get back to me.
Well they never did. I called them back several times, & no one ever
seemed to know what I was talking about. So I put all my hopes into the
Flint store (which was my store of preference). Finally, about6 weeks
later, Flint called me for my 2nd interview. It went very well, & at 1st
they said they would call me for a 3rd interview, but then they
said, 'heck with that, we'll make it official now.' I took my drug test,
& started about a week later. About 2 weeks after I started, they said I
would probably wind up getting what should have been my 1st paycheck,
combined with my 2nd, because there was a glitch that had occurred; a
common one, according to mgmt., but it put me in one heck of a bind.
This 'common occurance' consisted of some kind of problem with my drug
test, which caused a delay in my check, because I couldn't get my
employee ID #. I told them I'd be glad to take it over, but they said
that wasn't necessary. Anyway, I waited another 10 days for my check.
Although it was 2 checks in one, I nearly got kicked out of a class I
was taking because of that delay. So I worked for nearly a month before
I finally got a check. Thank goodness for our Viewpoint chairman; he got
the ball rolling & pitched a fit about the delay, & I truly believe it
made a difference. I do recall that during my 2nd/hiring interview, they
kept trying to get me to do cashiering, which, altho I have many years
experience, I wanted no part of. That's almost all I'd ever done, & I
wanted to try something a bit different. I may try cashiering
eventually, but I truly wanted to do floor sales, specifically Media.
Then they tried to get me to try Computers (I can build one), Tech
Bench/Geek Squad, & also Wireless (I used to sell cell phones), but I
insisted on Media. They agreed, & said they'd try me out there, & if it
didn't work out for some reason, they'd try me in another dept. So at
least they were negotiable. They asked what I like to do in my spare
time, & if I had children.
