Working for Best Buy was okay. They are a good company to work for if
you are white and a male. All others have to work very hard for
advancement. While working there they did a lot with training their
employees . Dress code everyone wore the same thing the blue best buy
shirt and tan or black pants. The benefits were great. I think that
it depends on the individual manager who sets the tone for how the
climate in the store will be. If you have a fair and firm general
manager things tend to run smoothly if you have one with bias the
employees pick up on that and their attitude shows. While working at
best buy I had 3 different GMs and I would say under each the
experience was very different. Best Buy could be a wonderful company
to work for if they keep an eye out for GMs that have certain bias
against women and people of color. The benefits are great and the
store discounts are worth working there if nothing else. I had 3
promotions while working there. Yet, was never taken serious for any
management opportunities.
