Job Title Workplace Survey
Media Specialist Best Buy is one of the better places I've worked. The dress code is khakis & our work shirts, with black, brown, or white shoes, including tenhis & casual shoes. We can wear small pins on our shirts also (usually related tp Best Buy, but they've allowed me to wear 2 tiny pins I have: the small ribbon that says "support our troops"). They've been great to me when it comes to my medical treatments, & will usually give me the days I request off. I get pain shots for my back every 3-4 months, & they've been quite understanding & tolerant (up to this point). Most times, whenever I have an issue/problem about something, I can go to management & discuss it without fear of retaliation. Recently, we had a 'change of command," & our dept. supervisor stepped down, & now works in inventory. One of my co-workers applied for the position & got it. It's taking some getting used to though. Just as this change started taking effect, I noticed a change in mgmt. demeanor. I went to present an issue that several of us in my dept. have, about a fellow co-worker. This gal, altho smart & thorough, has a very condecending attitude. She talks to most of us like we're idiots. She acts lke she has to coddle us. It's NOT what she's saying, but HOW she says it. It's getting pretty bad, but no one in my dept. has the nerve to say anything, I guess (except me, I guess). And ever since around Christmas or so, mgmt. isn't as receptive as they used to be. If I go 2 mgmt. with an issue about another employee, I just basically get ignored. They tell me "Oh, it's not that bad, it'll get better." Well it is bad & it's gotten worse. Even something as simple as explaining a particular function of the Telxon...not only did said co-worker make me feel like an idiot, but management made me feel even worse. Not to mention that not only did I have to practically beg someone (in another dept.) to help me, in the meantime, I got written up for it! They cracked down on us putting out blank title cards without a Telxon handy, which I fully understand. But what bothers me is, how did I get written up for something I was never shown how to do properly?!?! And when I asked for help, I couldn't get it. Things are changing at Best Buy, & I have no plans to leave, but there is so much injustice going on. I realize that can happen no matter where you go, but I don't know what to do. I'm considering calling our corporate hotline. There are other things going on as well. Other co- workers that are rude to each other, AND the customers. I've had co- workers from another dept. escort a customer over to me, & usually I'm already bust with the stack of curomers that I have. They (the co- worker) gets nasty if I don't drop my other customers for the one they bought over. But yet if I take someone to one of them, they want me to wait on their customer in their dept. I usually do, if I know/understand what they what. But the thing is, this employee will go complain about me, or whomever it was they took that person to. I go to work no matter what; when I'm in pain, etc. And not only do I continue to do my job, but I do iut with a smile on my face. Poor customer service is absolutely unacceptable to me. I don't want it, & I don't give it, either. I don't know what to do. Anyway, thank you for giving me the oportunity to present my information. Do with it what you will, Thanks again.
