Best Buy is a large corperation that embraces change. We have been
going through a changing process for the last 3 months and are probably
continue to change for another 3 months. Every Best Buy is getting a
huge remodel and is excepted a new business procedure called "Organic
Growth" which means that we already have the cliantell, now all we need
is to improve our sales strategy with our existing customers. We are
required by Best Buys' dress code policy to wear a black or blue polo
shirt with the best buy logo on it, kakis pants, black or brown solid
belt, and black or brown solid shoes. If we feel more comfortable
wearing an undershirt, that shirt must be white. Best Buy has a great
healthcare package with United healthcare for full time assosiates and
has an ESPP (employee stock purchase plan) which allows employees to
invest up to 15% of their paychecks into Best Buy stock and they get it
at the lowest price posted in 6 months plus 10% off that. Full time
employees get 40 hours personal holiday after 6 months of work, then get
20 hours after their aniversery of full time employment plus 1.86 hours
of vacation added every pay period (every two weeks). Also after that
year, sick pay is accrued at 2.86 hours a pay period reaching 40 hours
in a year. Best buy has a very energetic atmasphere and a great SOP
(standard operating platform) in which it allows its managers of
different branches to use for the base of their disciplinary issues and
promotion standards. Best Buy gives every employee the ability to
impower themselves for the customer (make decisions that were normally
ment for managers to make to please a customer) and has gone a long way
with that. Best Buy has every opertunity for advancement like most
other retailers, but with the growth potential of our new way
of "Organic Growth", every Best Buy is going through a massive remodel
and roughly 40 new positions including leadership positions are opening
up. Best Buy has always been pro growth and individuals can get
promoted pretty rapidly within the company. Best Buy is really into
the "numbers" information with friendly competitions with all other
retail locations with banners and bonuses to locations that are doing
the best. Every number is tracked, Revenue, gross margin dollars, close
rate, PSP (performance service plans), PRP (performance replacement
plans), close rate, revenue per transaction, average sale price, units
per transaction, accessories, etc. any "number" that could possibly help
the store in sales is tracked. I am a full time employee and I get
about 35 hours a week (32 is the minimum that full time employees can
get and 8 is the minimum that part time employees can get). The company
doesnt look kindly to overtime, but if you are busy helping a customer
and you run a little over, they arent gonna frown on it too much. There
are many different kinds of people that work there as well. Durring the
holiday season we had an individual with a wheel chair working for us at
our store.
