BearingPoint has been a great place to work. All of the things that
make it great are still in place, but right now we're hanging on by a
shoestring, and it may all fall apart. If I took this survey a month
or
two from now, after we release our financials for 2004, I would feel
either much better or much worse, but it's really dicey right now, and
anxious is the best word to describe our workforce.
Here's the bottom line on careers at BearingPoint: if you tell someone
what it is you want to do, that door will be opened for you. People
that come here, succeed here, and like it here are those that know what
they want to do and are good at doing it.
The quality of the staff is amazing. Every now and then I'm faced with
a career decision, and ask simply, "Do I want to trust my career to
these people?" The answer's always come up 'yes,' and it's always been
a good move.
The hours are long, but only because when you're surrounded by a group
of high performers you all push each other to excel and as a group you
just keep doing the things you like. It's nothing to put in 60 hours a
week on a project, but if you didn't force yourself to back off and
balance your personal life, you'd find that you'd easily spend 80 hours
a week.
