The atmosphere at Bear was a good one as long as you were strong minded
and worked with a down to earth crew. That seems to be disappearing
with in the firm. Too many egotistical personnel. To rise with in the
firm one must really kiss up to higher levels. Very prejudicial when it
comes to employees. Typically towards working mom with more than one
child. Alot of spying in the departments. Too many big brothers
watching. The firm has changed drastically. The big wigs make great
salaries and the firm boasts what great earnings they have made every
year but when it comes to the employees getting proper raises or even
bonuses; you are given the extreme bare minimum. Something in the area
of 2%. Many empty promises from the start. Many supervisors pretend to
be your colleague but yet turn against you. They all state that there
is always room for advancement or transfers in the firm yet at the same
respect they will sabotage your chance and state something on the lines
of "Maybe next quarter" Lehman and Oppenheimer are definitely better
firms to work with. I have been in the industry for twenty two years
and can state that the latter firms are the way to go.
