Job Title Interview Survey
Trade desk support /java developer This is one company which gave me my worst experience in job searching or interviewing. I was called by the company twice and both times by independant contractors which are vendors to Bank of America in providing human resources. First time the contractor was Moss search Ltd and the postion was trade desk developer and I had first interview with guy ( probably a trader/manager) and although I was nervous ( he definitely sounded a nice guy and seemed to know his stuff ) Second interview was following friday( 1 wk later) by a guy ( overall boss of the group and a fairly reasonably guy-in fact he impressed me the most) They came back and said they wanted to test my technical skills the following week and even though it seemed to take forever I agreed. This time I had to talk to two guys , one was a chinese guy( sorry I can't recall the name ) and even though I was told it was a technical interview , he asked me pretty silly questions and in the end told me he was just checking my personality. It felt weird but the next guy was worse.( and it was more weird because both the guys were supposed to interview me together). I think the next guy's name was Sunil Challa and he seemed as if he was getting his first chance at interviewing someone.Throughout the period when I was telling him how our earlier project was designed he seemed to not understand anything and criticized all the things repeatedly , in fact at one point he shouted in the meeting and suggested that I was delaying him for his train to his home somewhere in suburbs. In the end he had some childish questions from some book ( or somebody had asked him in his first interview of java). It was pretty surprising to be interviewed by such seemingly junior level folks and to be asked syntax details for a position which apparently required more finance knowledge than technical. Anyway next day however hard I tried to convince a guy of Moss research group to take up the case with Bank of America ( after they had said no) but he said to let go and I let it go. After about a month through another contractor they called me for a first round of interviews and I talked to 4 people (all of the positions they wanted to consider me were for his boss's group -can't recall his name) infact one of the person took me to same room where I had spoken to in prvious case. After almost like 4-5 hours grilling the next day feedback came back positive and they wanted me to come back for more interviews but kept on postponing the dates and finally after 2 more weeks of waiting I had the chance to go there and this time they wanted me to interview with the whole group almost like a gang rape , they came in one by one and kept on repeating in a way same questions and showed as if they were pretty impressed with my java knowledge.Anyway since I had taken leave from work I told them after 5th guy had talked to me that I could take no more and I was going , it would be good if they told the results soon. And...I kept on waiting for almost a month and they still kept on saying they were deciding...neither no nor yes. Funny thing is last time it was technical issues this time it was timing issue....pretty unprofessional way of interviewing especially if it is under the name of Bank of America. Finally I decided whatever be the case I am not joining them and I hope others in their right minds should really find out more. What a time waste of mine ...first time some junior guy calls the shots for a senior technical- financial position( almost a technical joke interview) and second time the similar group like the technial part a lot but can't make up their mind in more than 6 weeks and 10 people interviewing me...Wow height of unprofessionalism. Many times I thought I will write to Bank of America HR professionals and in fact one time I wrote too but no answer came back. Anyway that is my bitter experience and as always just a small guy experience with big company. Finance- Option valuation,Swaps, yield curve, simplex method Java-thread synchronization( and repeatedly synchronization by 4 other guys) ,EJB's ,finalization and some other basic questions
