During my relatively short tenure with Bank One I have noticed some very
important positives as well as negatives in terms of what I look for in
a job. The positives include that Bank One is very flexible when it
comes to offering solutions to assist employees in managing their time.
So yes, I do get a sense that they are are attempting to help their
employees in handling their day to day lives. However the negatives
include poor communication and arrogant upper management. These two
characteristics, unfortunately, lead to a wide gap in terms of buying in
to corporate vision. All
in all I would recommend Bank One to work for, but my prediction is that
it will be a rough ride for five years or so since the problem
characteristics mentioned above won't go away until those managers are
flushed out of they system. I guess my point is that out of experience
you can't teach old dogs new tricks, unless they are willing to accept
that they can improve. (Note: As it goes for any other large
organization this opinion of mine is based off a little first hand
knowledge, some heresay, and an awful lot of gossip. Please get as many
opinions as you can b/c there are many good managers in Bank One as
well.)
