Reservoir Engineer The electronic application form is screened twice. The first screening by HR removes people who don't meet basic criteria such as educational level and ability to obtain a work permit. The second one by line managers is to high-grade people purely on the content of their responses to the three questions. It is therefore essential to enter as much evidence as you can of the competencies they are looking for in those responses. Once you've got past that there's a 'first round' interview which will focus on either technical or commercial competency, and usually incorporate a numeracy/literacy test. Most of the interviewers are practising engineers, team leaders and line managers. Then there's the 'second round' or 'selection event' which is a 24 hour event that includes 2 interviews (looking for technical skills again, as well as workplace competencies like influencing and cooperation) and 3 games - an individual one where you have an hour to deal with an in- tray; a group one where cooperation is key to whether the group succeeds or not; and a group one where each individual is in competition with the others, but it's not quite so important whether you succeed or not, as how. There's also the opportunity to 'relax' in the evening...
