BP look strong at the moment with an excellent portfolio of global
assets, despite the falling oil price. CEO John Browne is a wise
leader
and in the face of Shell's recent quandry over proven reserves, has
quite cleverly made some positive comments to the market regarding the
future strength of the oil price. From a "2-pipe" company in the 80's
they have fuelled growth from acquisitions in the 90's to operate
assets
in the North Sea, N America, SE Asia, W Africa, South Caucasus and now
Russia. However, without western competition in both Russia and
Azerbaijan following Exxon's failure to capitalise on the former
soviet's reserves, BP may be left exposed. Employee morale is generally
good.
