Job Title Salary Survey
Chemist I started at 45,000 as a chemist with a BS in chemistry. I've made an average of 7% increase per year. However, this is well above the 2-5% that my collegues were getting. Part of that had to do with relocating. In my division there are no bonuses for employees who are not supervisors. There are no stock options. When you are hired you get 10 days vacation. After 5 years you get 15 days vacation. After 10 years you get 20 days vacation. After 15 years you get 20 days vacation a year. After 20 years you get 25 days vacation a year. Finally, after 30 years you get 30 days vacation a year. This is the American policy. If you hire in and work in Germany you get 30 days a year the first day you are hired in. The one thing that has thankfully not been stripped away by cutbacks is the tuition reimbursement policy. The policy is 100% tuition and book reimbursements for approved courses in which you receive a passing grade. There is no sliding scale, even if you get a C- you still get 100% reimbursement. We did have an expense account for customer entertainment, but that was taken away from most, and now only upper level managers have one.
