I work in the call center where diversity and hours are good but things
go downhill from there. One must continually "qualify" to be a 1 or at
least a 2 or lose all opportunity for any continuing education or
advancement. When we were told about the "new" system, we were told
that it was only going to "affect one tiny area". Well, it now affects
everything we do.
In spite of having PC Punch, which is an electronic time card, it is
suggested that we fill out time exception forms each week so that we can
be sure that our paychecks will be correct. Why this should be
necessary is not something anyone will explain to me. Also,
approximately once perhaps twice a year we have a paycheck snafu that
results in checks either missing/short. Missing is generally dealt with
more quickly than simply short. But it's always some strange collection
of circumstances that have never happened before and will not happen
again because "they will fix it". Then the next time its a different
collection of circumstances but the result is the same.
They have spent many millions of dollars on optic reader/voice
recognition technology that is not able to do what they desire.
However, rather than admit that this technology is limited, we are
required to place representatives in the position of using it or not
doing business. It is responsible for a great number of mistakes
daily.
The company uses a Short Term Disability company called CORE. CORE has
harrassed my doctor, questioning his diagnosis, choice of treatment, and
medication for me, whether or not I really needed to be off as along as
he actually said. Then, to get my time certified, I have to apologize
for being sick and beg to get paid. I realize that from their point of
view this is not how the process works but several people I work with
agree with me on this. One lady's doctor even threatened to stop seeing
her.
I am currently seeking other employment.
