| Logistics Manager |
Their business is booming and is experiencing exponential growth over
the past 2 years of almost 40%. Strengths are in the actual product
they manufacture backed by a superior customer service. However, the
customer service regarding delivery tends to over service and therefore
it is done at a higher cost than the competitors. Distribution is our
own and we own all the trucks and employ full time drivers. The product
is reconstituted limestone blocks used for building and landscaping and
with a continuing boom in the building industry there seems a never
ending opportunity. The company also produces paving and bullnosing to
complement the blocks. The manufacturing process is carried out at a
quarry some 50 kilometres distance and the fact that there is
insufficient communication set up between the quarry and the sales
offices results in sometimes minor problems and sometimes major
problems. There is also a very ineffective method of inventory
management which can be frustrating for the sales staff. However,
overall, the company is going forward and continues to expand its
manufacturing and distribution arms to ensure that the growth can be
sustained.
