The company I hired in with was acquired 1/1/2001 by Aon Corporation. Thus the
culture is mixed with the previous much smaller company with the new bigger
impersonal larger company. The culture is somewhat relaxed with the exception
of
the call centers which have stricter
policies, etc. Dress code is business casual with jeans permissable on Friday.
Hours are flexible. Several employees have telecommute priviledges and work
from
home one or more days per week. They are primarily IT related types.
The corporate parent has somewhat antiquated HR policies and practices, tution
reimbursement is micro managed, do not have PTO time, very labor intensive
attendance tracking system, for example.
Because we are not located with the corporate office, some feelings of isolation
and segregation exist. The company seems loathe to publish org charts.
No salary ranges or job levels are posted on the job posting system.
In this economy its understandable that they aren't too motivated to fix some of
these issues but in a competitve job market, not sure how they do it.
