This is a defense contractor supporting several arsenals around the
country. Very little in the way of racial diversity. Religion
permeated the upper echelon. The management sounded like southern
hospitality but underneath there was a current of fear, control, and
autocracy. Despite winning a $13mil contract I was let go five days
after start work of that contract. I was given no reason, no recourse,
and no severance. Hours were reasonable, usually 40 hours per week.
There were some who worked more hours than that but we got them approved
to be paid for the extra hours at the straight time rate. The dress
code depended on the circumstances. It could be very casual unless we
needed to meet with one of our government customers in which case we
would need to be in coat and tie.
