Verdict Reporter I worked as a verdict reporter for American Lawyer Media for a short time. As a verdict report, I drafted articles on notable trial verdicts in various states, such as California, Texas, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois. I believe VerdictSearch publishes in 7 states. As a verdict reporter, my day consisted of calling attorneys and asking questions about their cases. I spent an average of 2-5 hours daily on the phone, either making calls or returning phone calls. I then would fax a draft of the article to the attorneys who handled the case, and make necessary revisions. The employees at American Lawyer are very friendly and mostly a young bunch. Social events were numerous as well as monthly raffles and holiday parties and personal birthday celebrations. It was indeed an enjoyable place to work, albeit some employees did work late (until 8- 9pm) to meet certain publication deadlines. Most reporters however worked from 9 or 9:30 to 5:30 or 6 pm.
