The outlook for the company seems very stable. You have to stay there
for a long time in order to move up the chain past an Assistant manager
and even longer for the General Manager position and so on. The
strength in competition is the fact that they have one of the largest
labs, and they do not have a lab in every store, therefore they do not
need to spend a whole bunch of money in every store for the up-keep on
the lab equiptment and more employees in each store to specifically man
the lab, they keep it simple by having one centralized lab that all job
orders go to. However, the same strength is their weekness. The jobs
that they put in aren't able to be done in an hour, they take longer
and there isn't much room for special orders on a certian patients
glasses, whereas if they had their own lab they are able to do things
that they can't specify in an order. You have less control over what
is coming back to you. As for the contacts, they have a large variety
of contacts in stock at the store which is a plus, the contacts we have
to order do come from one big warehouse(across the street from the lab
in New Jersy) so they are usually in stock there instead of having to
order from the manufacterer, so you get even the contacts that need to
be ordered faster than most places. The special order contacts however
that they don't carry in the warehouse can take up to 14 business days
to get to the store.
